Head InstructorJay was introduced to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu by a friend in 2003 and immediately fell in love with the art. At the time Jay had been doing post grad work in elementary education at William Paterson University in Wayne, NJ where he had already received his Bachelors degree in Sociology and Criminal Justice. It was at this time that he realized that his dream was to teach the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Jay also fell in love with the competitive aspect of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He went on to establish himself as one of the most successful American jiu jitsu competitors, medaling 4 times at the prestigious IBJJF Pan American Jiu-Jitsu championships and winning a Bronze medal at the 2012 IBJJF World No Gi Jiu Jitsu Championships. Jay is also a 7 time Grapplers Quest champion and a 6 time North American Grapplers Association (NAGA) champion. Jay has been teaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu since 2005 and received his Black Belt from Jared Weiner in 2009. He has experience teaching everyone from the casual practitioner who is looking for a way to get in shape and learn effective self defense, to the competitor or Mixed Martial Arts fighter. Jay has also trained and cornered many fighters in Mixed Martial Arts, and most recently has been the Jiu-Jitsu trainer and coach for UFC middleweight Mike Massenzio.
